Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation

Find the fire that fits your home

The Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria gives a linear log fire an architectural, multi-angle presence. It is a distinctive option when you want the fireplace to shape the room rather than simply occupy a flat opening. Chimneys Plus helps compare its bay-style presentation with the wall, furniture and construction space around it.

Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.

What makes this family different

The 50 and 62 models combine Luminous Logs with a double-pane Glass Guard system, ember lighting and overhead accent lighting. Split-flow burner control varies the fire presentation. The family’s approved finishing arrangements support different degrees of side visibility; we select the exact arrangement before construction instead of treating the glass panels as interchangeable design accessories.

Selection and installation, considered together

Plan this fireplace early in a feature-wall project. Multiple visible glass surfaces make sightlines, adjacent finishes and nearby furniture especially important. The required glass barrier reduces burn risk but does not justify touching the operating appliance. Napoleon identifies this as a decorative appliance, not a source of heat. Chimneys Plus plans the vent route, framing, service access and approved heat-management system together. Television placement and combustible finishes depend on the precise model, kit and installation instructions, plus the television’s own temperature limits.

This is a complete built-in gas fireplace with its own firebox, not an insert that requires a separate existing fireplace. Its direct-vent combustion system uses outside air and exhausts outdoors rather than using already conditioned room air for combustion. A suitable vent route, the complete enclosure, finish materials and service access all matter; the appliance’s body dimensions alone do not establish installation fit.

Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. We check the fuel supply and the selected model’s requirements before finalizing the installation. The installation manual requires hardwiring. The normal electrical connection is still necessary even though backup batteries can operate the burner controls. Lighting and powered accessories require household power.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria different from a see-through fireplace?

Its bay-style presentation provides views around the front and sides rather than simply through opposite faces of a dividing wall. We compare the actual approved layout with your room; “multi-view” does not make every bay, peninsula and see-through arrangement interchangeable.

Can I choose which sides remain visible on a Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria?

The approved finishing arrangement must be selected and checked against the exact model instructions before framing and finishes are installed. Chimneys Plus reviews the intended front and side views, barriers and service access rather than assuming that covering or exposing a side is a cosmetic change.

Can the Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria operate during a power outage?

Yes! With gas available and the specified working batteries installed, the burner can operate during an outage. Other electrical features, including lighting, are unavailable. A gas power-vent installation will not operate without power. This is decorative flame operation, not a rated backup-heating system or a replacement for home heating.

Does the Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria require an electrical connection?

The installation manual requires hardwiring. The normal electrical connection is still necessary even though backup batteries can operate the burner controls. Lighting and powered accessories require household power. We coordinate the electrical work, so you do not need to arrange that part of the project separately.

Can a Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria run without electricity if it uses a power vent?

No. The owner’s manual specifically states that a gas power-vent installation will not operate during a power failure. Battery-backed burner controls do not provide power to the vent. If outage flame operation matters to you, we must evaluate venting choices before the fireplace is specified.

Can the Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria use an existing gas line?

Possibly. Chimneys Plus checks fuel type, pipe capacity, pressure, shutoff access and the demand from other appliances. An existing connection does not automatically mean that the line is adequate for the new fireplace.

Does installing or replacing a Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria require permits?

Yes, fireplace switch-outs require permitting even when a gas line already exists. Chimneys Plus confirms the applicable requirements and handles permits for the installation.

How should I maintain a Napoleon Tall Bay Luxuria?

Follow the model’s care instructions and arrange qualified inspection and service at least annually. Burner and pilot condition, approved media placement, glass, controls and venting all deserve attention. Keep required barriers installed and keep enclosure air openings unobstructed.
