Flare Corner Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation

The best fireplace view is not always straight ahead. Flare Corner fireplaces let the flame remain part of the room as you move between a sofa, dining table and adjoining space. Their multi-sided glass makes them worth considering when a conventional flat fireplace would turn its back on an important part of the layout.

Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.

Chimneys Plus can help you compare the Left Corner, Right Corner and Double Corner configurations. These are built-in gas fireplaces with their own fireboxes, so you do not need an existing masonry fireplace. The shape of the enclosure and the orientation of the glass are planned around your room.

Choose a corner or a three-sided bay

Left Corner and Right Corner provide two adjoining viewing faces. Double Corner adds views around both ends of the front face for a three-sided, bay-style presentation. The names describe specific appliance configurations; we confirm the manufacturer’s orientation drawings before ordering rather than rely on a casual description of “left” or “right.”

A Double Corner works well as a focal point projecting from a wall. If you want a fireplace to extend into the room with views along two long sides and across the end, compare the separate Room Definer peninsula family. Both offer three-sided views, but they shape a room differently.

Make the design comfortable to live with

We look at traffic paths, nearby furniture and the wall finishes as well as the view. The chosen safety barrier must stay in place, and the fireplace needs the specified heat release, cooling airflow and service access. Optional active Double Glass cooling changes electrical dependence and should be considered early if outage heat matters to you.

These sealed direct-vent appliances use outside combustion air and exhaust outside. The complete installation still requires a suitable vent route, gas supply and household electrical connection. Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting, including the requirements that apply when replacing an existing appliance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Flare Left Corner and Right Corner fireplaces?

They are mirrored configurations with two adjoining viewing faces. We use Flare’s drawings to match the correct model to the wall and the direction you want to see the fire.

How is a Flare Double Corner different from a Room Definer?

Double Corner gives a bay-style view across a front face and its two ends. Room Definer is a peninsula layout with opposing long viewing faces and a visible end, better suited to projecting between areas of a room.

Can a Flare Corner fireplace provide backup heat?

Yes, with an approved screen configuration, battery backup and gas supply, when the complete installation does not require powered operating systems. Active Double Glass cooling, Power Vent and Active Heat Flex configurations are not battery-only outage solutions. We verify the proposed installation before relying on it for supplemental backup heat.

Does a Flare Corner fireplace need an electrical supply even with a screen?

Yes. The normal installation still needs the specified household power. Chimneys Plus coordinates the electrical work and checks whether the selected accessories add requirements.

Can the glass on a Flare Corner fireplace be left without a safety barrier?

No. The approved screen or glass-barrier system must remain in place. Even with a glass cooling option, follow the operating instructions and keep children and furnishings appropriately separated from the fireplace.

Can Chimneys Plus handle a Flare Corner gas line and permits?

Yes. We handle or coordinate gas piping, required electrical work and applicable permitting so you do not have to arrange those pieces separately.
