Flare See Through Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation

A fireplace can connect two spaces as well as warm the place where you gather. Flare See Through fireplaces put the same fire in view from opposite sides, making them a useful choice for adjoining living and dining areas or a carefully planned dividing wall. Each side can have its own surrounding finish while the fire provides a visual connection.

Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.

Chimneys Plus can help you decide whether a see-through opening will improve your layout or whether a front-facing or peninsula design would serve it better. Consider privacy and sightlines as well as the flame: you will be able to see through the fireplace when it is not burning, too.

Two-sided views with an indoor-outdoor option

The standard See Through family is a built-in, sealed direct-vent gas fireplace. For an exterior wall, Flare offers approved Indoor Outdoor configurations using its Outdoor Kit. That application needs the specified exterior details; an ordinary indoor installation should not simply be exposed to weather.

An indoor-outdoor fireplace is also different from Flare’s separate outdoor-only range. The appropriate model, kit, weather detailing and indoor heat-release arrangement must be selected for the actual location. We keep those choices clear rather than treating every two-sided unit as interchangeable.

Plan both sides before building

Both rooms affect the design. Furniture placement, access for service and the finish on each face should be considered before the enclosure is built. Sealed direct vent uses outdoor combustion air, while the surrounding enclosure has its own heat-release and, where required, cooling-air requirements.

Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. We also review the vent path, wall construction and the effect of any powered options on outage operation. A fireplace that needs active glass cooling is not a battery-only backup heater.

Selection details

  • Configuration: two opposite viewing faces, built into an approved enclosure.
  • Model family: See Through, with separately detailed Indoor Outdoor applications.
  • Published glass-height choices: 16 and 24 inches, depending on size and application.
  • Fuel choices: natural gas or propane, specified for the selected unit.
  • Safety-barrier choices include a screen or model-appropriate active Double Glass system.
  • Normal electrical supply: household AC power is required; Flare specifies 110V/15A for the standard installation.

We verify model-specific dimensions and outdoor-kit compatibility instead of using nominal sizes as construction measurements. See Through product information and Indoor Outdoor product information.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Flare See Through fireplace the same as a double-sided fireplace?

Yes. In this family, both terms describe a fire viewed through opposite glass faces. It differs from a corner fireplace, where the views meet around a corner.

Can a Flare See Through fireplace connect my living room and patio?

An approved Indoor Outdoor configuration with the required Outdoor Kit may suit that application. We confirm the exact model and weather-protection details before specifying it; the standard indoor unit alone is not the complete exterior-wall solution.

Can a Flare See Through fireplace operate during a power outage?

An approved screen-equipped installation can provide supplemental heat with battery backup and gas available if it has no AC-dependent operating systems. Do not expect battery-only operation with active Double Glass cooling, a Power Vent or Active Heat Flex. We check the complete specification before making a backup-heat recommendation.

Will a Flare See Through fireplace heat both rooms equally?

Do not assume equal heating. Openings, room sizes, airflow and the heat-release design influence where warmth goes. We help you select for comfort as well as visibility rather than promise whole-home or equal two-room heating.

Does a Flare See Through installation need electricity and permits?

Yes, the normal installation requires electrical power, and we handle the applicable permitting requirements. Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates the gas line and required electrical work as part of the project.

Can a Flare See Through fireplace replace an existing fireplace?

Possibly, but creating a second viewing face can change the surrounding construction substantially. We evaluate the existing enclosure, venting and adjoining space rather than assume a two-sided unit will fit a one-sided opening.
