Flare Room Definer Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation
An open floor plan can benefit from a sense of separation without a full wall between rooms. The Flare Room Definer is a three-sided peninsula gas fireplace that can mark the transition from living to dining while keeping the fire visible from both sides and the end. It gives people in different parts of the room a shared focal point.
Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.
This is a built-in fireplace with its own firebox. The finished enclosure, supporting structure and vent route are part of the installation; it is not a portable freestanding stove. Chimneys Plus can help you work out whether a peninsula belongs in your layout before you choose its length or finish.
Give the fire room to be enjoyed
A Room Definer asks different questions from a fireplace placed against a wall. How will people walk around it? Will chairs face one or both long sides? Does the enclosure create useful separation without making the room feel crowded? These are the details that help a striking design become a comfortable part of everyday life.
The family offers several lengths and glass heights, so the scale can be considered alongside the room rather than chosen from a photograph alone. A lower, longer opening gives a different effect from a taller window. We also help you compare the screen and active Double Glass options and the implications of your heat-management choice.
Installation beyond the visible glass
Room Definer uses sealed direct-vent combustion, drawing combustion air outdoors and returning exhaust outside. Its position within the room makes early vent planning especially important. Cooling-air openings and enclosure heat release, where required, need to stay unobstructed and must be designed into the finished feature.
Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates the gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. Normal household electrical power is required. If the design needs active glass cooling, a Power Vent or Active Heat Flex, it cannot be treated as a fireplace that runs on ignition-backup batteries alone.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Flare Room Definer a freestanding stove?
No. It is a built-in peninsula fireplace requiring an approved enclosure, support, venting and clearances. Its projecting layout should not be confused with a movable or exposed stove.
How many sides of a Flare Room Definer show the fire?
Three: two opposing long sides and an end. This makes it useful where people gather on either side of a dividing feature.
Can a Flare Room Definer work during a power outage?
A compatible screen-equipped installation can provide supplemental heat with battery backup and an available gas supply, as long as it does not depend on powered operating systems. Active Double Glass cooling, a Power Vent or Active Heat Flex requires AC power and prevents battery-only operation. We confirm the exact configuration before recommending backup use.
Does a Flare Room Definer require an electrical connection?
Yes. Normal installation includes household power even when a compatible screen version can use backup batteries during an outage. We coordinate the required electrical work with the rest of the project.
Will a Flare Room Definer heat my entire open floor plan?
We do not promise whole-home coverage from the appearance or size of the flame. Room layout, insulation, ceiling height and the selected heat-release arrangement all affect comfort. We compare the proposed model with your actual heating priorities.
Who plans the gas line and permits for a Flare Room Definer?
Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and applicable permits. We consider these alongside the structural and venting requirements, rather than leave them until after the enclosure is built.
