Flare Large Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation

A substantial room sometimes needs a fireplace scaled to the architecture rather than to a conventional hearth opening. Flare Large fireplaces extend the linear format for broad feature walls and other large-scale settings. The family includes Front Facing, Left Corner, Right Corner and Double Corner layouts, letting the view continue around a corner when the design calls for it.

Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.

Chimneys Plus can help you decide whether a Large fireplace is appropriate or whether a standard-size Flare would create a better balance. The conversation starts with the room and intended use, then moves to the technical planning that a longer appliance requires.

Choose the view before choosing the length

Front Facing concentrates attention on one side. Left and Right Corner bring an adjoining view into the design, while Double Corner creates a bay-style view on three faces. Consider the places people will actually sit and walk, along with the surrounding wall proportions.

Large-format fireplaces need especially thoughtful comfort planning. More visible fire should not be assumed to mean better heating for the home. We consider the exact model’s gas input, the room’s needs and the approved heat-management design rather than turn a nominal length into a heating-coverage promise.

A coordinated installation from the start

These are built-in direct-vent gas fireplaces, not inserts for an existing masonry opening. Their sealed combustion draws air from outdoors and carries exhaust outside rather than using conditioned room air. The published Large model tables show multiple vent connections on these assemblies, which makes early routing and enclosure planning important. Gas capacity, electrical provision, access for service and the supporting construction also need to be settled before finish work begins.

Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. We confirm the exact appliance and its operating systems with the current installation documents. Because the Large family is offered with Double Glass and may involve powered cooling or venting, we do not present it as a general battery-only backup-heat solution.

Frequently asked questions

When should I consider a Flare Large fireplace instead of a standard model?

Consider it when the architecture calls for a much longer feature and the room can support the complete installation. We compare standard-size alternatives too, so scale, comfort and construction stay in balance.

Does a Flare Large 120 fireplace measure exactly 120 inches overall?

No. The number is a nominal model designation. Actual appliance and viewing dimensions vary, and the installed enclosure adds its own requirements. We use the exact drawings rather than build from the model name.

Which Flare Large configurations are available?

The current family includes Front Facing, Left Corner, Right Corner and Double Corner. We confirm the exact size and configuration available for your project before specifying it.

Can a Flare Large fireplace run on batteries during an outage?

Do not assume that it can. Required active glass cooling and powered venting need AC power, as does Active Heat Flex where specified. We review the exact Large assembly and manufacturer-approved operating configuration before discussing any outage capability; a small control battery pack does not power the required fans.

Why does a Flare Large installation need early vent and electrical planning?

The published models use multiple vent connections, and the complete installation may include powered operating systems. Routing, electrical supply and service access need to fit the building before the enclosure and finishes are committed.

Will a Flare Large fireplace heat my whole house?

We do not make that promise. Heat distribution depends on the building and the installation, not simply the length of the fire. We assess the room and your comfort goals using the selected model’s actual specifications.

Who handles gas piping and permits for a Flare Large fireplace?

Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates the gas piping, required electrical work and applicable permitting. We check the gas supply capacity and the complete construction requirements as part of the installation plan.
