Napoleon Vector Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation
Find the fire that fits your home
The Napoleon Vector puts a long ribbon of flame at the center of a contemporary room. Its low, horizontal shape is a natural candidate for a broad feature wall or a carefully planned room divider. Chimneys Plus helps compare its scale with your seating area and the finished wall, rather than choosing only by the biggest available opening.
Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.
What makes this family different
The family offers 38, 50, 62 and 74 sizes in single-sided and see-through versions. Glass media and an illuminated ember bed create a modern presentation; approved log and interior options can soften that look. Included remote control and eFIRE app capability add everyday convenience, while the selected media and lighting determine the character of the finished fire.
Selection and installation, considered together
A single-sided Vector suits a feature wall. A see-through version needs a design that works from both rooms, including furniture spacing, finishes and service access on the appropriate side. A see-through listing does not by itself authorize an exterior-wall installation. Napoleon classifies this as a decorative appliance, not a source of heat or a replacement for home heating. We plan the complete enclosure, vent route and approved heat-management arrangement together. A television or combustible finish above the opening requires the exact model and kit clearances, as well as the television manufacturer’s temperature limits; there is no universal safe mounting height.
This is a complete built-in gas fireplace with its own firebox, not an insert that requires a separate existing fireplace. Its direct-vent combustion system uses outside air and exhausts outdoors rather than using already conditioned room air for combustion. A suitable vent route, the complete enclosure, finish materials and service access all matter; the appliance’s body dimensions alone do not establish installation fit.
Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. We check the fuel supply and the selected model’s requirements before finalizing the installation. The installation manual requires a hardwired electrical connection. Battery backup does not eliminate that requirement. Lighting, blowers and powered heat-management accessories need household electricity.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Napoleon Vector different from the Tall Linear Vector?
The Vector emphasizes a lower, elongated view. The Tall Linear Vector gives the fire more vertical viewing space. Compare their actual glass proportions and complete enclosure dimensions rather than assuming that the same nominal width makes them interchangeable.
Should I choose a single-sided or see-through Napoleon Vector?
A single-sided model presents the fire to one room; a see-through shares the view between two interior spaces. We consider whether both views genuinely improve your layout and whether the enclosure and venting can be built correctly.
Can the Napoleon Vector operate during a power outage?
Yes! With gas available and the specified working backup batteries installed, the controls can retain burner on/off and flame adjustment during an outage. Lighting and other electrical accessories do not operate from those batteries. An electrically powered vent system cannot be assumed to work without power. This is decorative flame operation, not a rated backup-heating system.
Does the Napoleon Vector require an electrical connection?
The installation manual requires a hardwired electrical connection. Battery backup does not eliminate that requirement. Lighting, blowers and powered heat-management accessories need household electricity. We coordinate the electrical work, so you do not need to arrange that part of the project separately.
Can a Napoleon Vector be installed below a television?
Possibly, with a model-specific compliant design. Heat-management kits, finishing details and the television’s temperature limits must be reviewed together. The fireplace’s appearance in a photograph is not an installation clearance.
Can the Napoleon Vector use an existing gas line?
Possibly. Chimneys Plus checks fuel type, pipe capacity, pressure, shutoff access and the demand from other appliances. An existing connection does not automatically mean that the line is adequate for the new fireplace.
Does installing or replacing a Napoleon Vector require permits?
Yes, fireplace switch-outs require permitting even when a gas line already exists. Chimneys Plus confirms the applicable requirements and handles permits for the installation.
How should I maintain a Napoleon Vector?
Follow the model’s care instructions and arrange qualified inspection and service at least annually. Burner and pilot condition, approved media placement, glass, controls and venting all deserve attention. Keep required barriers installed and keep enclosure air openings unobstructed.
