Napoleon Tall Linear Vector Gas Fireplace Selection and Installation

Find the fire that fits your home

For a contemporary fireplace with more vertical presence, the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector brings a taller fire view to a wide-format design. It can suit a generous feature wall where a very low opening might feel lost. Chimneys Plus helps you compare that visual presence with the construction space behind the wall.

Serving the Triangle and surrounding Central North Carolina communities.

What makes this family different

The current family includes 50, 62 and 74 sizes, with single-sided and see-through choices. Glass media creates a clean contemporary presentation, with approved decorative alternatives available for the selected model. Ember-bed lighting, remote control and eFIRE capability allow you to adjust the display without making every viewing session look the same.

Selection and installation, considered together

The taller opening is a design choice, not a promise of greater heating coverage. Compare viewing distance, furniture and the height of any proposed mantel or screen before selecting a size. Napoleon classifies this as a decorative appliance, not a source of heat or a replacement for home heating. We plan the complete enclosure, vent route and approved heat-management arrangement together. A television or combustible finish above the opening requires the exact model and kit clearances, as well as the television manufacturer’s temperature limits; there is no universal safe mounting height.

This is a complete built-in gas fireplace with its own firebox, not an insert that requires a separate existing fireplace. Its direct-vent combustion system uses outside air and exhausts outdoors rather than using already conditioned room air for combustion. A suitable vent route, the complete enclosure, finish materials and service access all matter; the appliance’s body dimensions alone do not establish installation fit.

Chimneys Plus handles or coordinates gas piping, required electrical work and permitting. We check the fuel supply and the selected model’s requirements before finalizing the installation. The installation manual requires a hardwired electrical connection. Battery backup does not eliminate that requirement. Lighting, blowers and powered heat-management accessories need household electricity.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector instead of a standard Vector?

The taller viewing format changes the proportions of the whole feature wall. It is worth considering when you want more vertical fire presence while keeping a horizontal design. It also changes framing and finishing requirements, so the two families are not interchangeable.

Can the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector divide two rooms?

Yes, a listed see-through model can share an interior fire view between rooms. We evaluate both sides, the vent route and service access; an ordinary single-sided unit cannot simply be opened at the back.

Can the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector operate during a power outage?

Yes! With gas available and the specified working backup batteries installed, the controls can retain burner on/off and flame adjustment during an outage. Lighting and other electrical accessories do not operate from those batteries. An electrically powered vent system cannot be assumed to work without power. This is decorative flame operation, not a rated backup-heating system.

Does the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector require an electrical connection?

The installation manual requires a hardwired electrical connection. Battery backup does not eliminate that requirement. Lighting, blowers and powered heat-management accessories need household electricity. We coordinate the electrical work, so you do not need to arrange that part of the project separately.

Does a larger Napoleon Tall Linear Vector heat more square feet?

Do not select it from an assumed coverage number. Napoleon identifies it as decorative, and fuel input is not a room-heating rating. Choose the proportions and operating range with the room and your intended use in mind.

Can the Napoleon Tall Linear Vector use an existing gas line?

Possibly. Chimneys Plus checks fuel type, pipe capacity, pressure, shutoff access and the demand from other appliances. An existing connection does not automatically mean that the line is adequate for the new fireplace.

Does installing or replacing a Napoleon Tall Linear Vector require permits?

Yes, fireplace switch-outs require permitting even when a gas line already exists. Chimneys Plus confirms the applicable requirements and handles permits for the installation.

How should I maintain a Napoleon Tall Linear Vector?

Follow the model’s care instructions and arrange qualified inspection and service at least annually. Burner and pilot condition, approved media placement, glass, controls and venting all deserve attention. Keep required barriers installed and keep enclosure air openings unobstructed.
